These CRL SRP Replacement Fining Discs are made from an aluminum alloy which is softer than glass. The disc itself does not perform the actual cutting, yet it merely traps the fining compound's abrasive particles in the disc's small holes. This in turn does the cutting action. As these economical discs wear, they become less efficient in trapping the abrasive compound, so they must be replaced. The adhesive backed discs press easily onto the fining machine's pad base.
