A Tape with Versatility, Originally developed for heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) applications, duct tape is used today in a variety of maintenance, repair and construction settings. Our Multi-Purpose Duct Tape 3900 was tested according to UL723, ASTM E84. Due to its unique design, it is an excellent choice for general indoor application in MRO/construction. The tape can be used at temperatures as high as 200F for up to 30 minutes. Multi-Purpose Duct Tape 3900 comes in an array of colors for process tagging, marking, highlighting hazards, color coding, identification and visual enhancement. Our sturdy cloth-reinforced tape can be torn from the roll and sticks instantly, providing a wide range of convenient solutions. Built to Stick: 3Ms family of rugged cloth and duct tapes adheres to most surfaces for applications ranging from bundling to moisture proofing, sealing to splicing, reinforcing to hanging poly drapes. Available in a variety of colors and strengths, theyre known best for their hand tearability, high tensile strength and conformability.

  • Designed for general use in MRO/construction applications
  • Remove cleanly for up to 3 months when applied indoors
  • Sticks immediately and stays on for up to one year without deterioration
  • Strong water-resistant backing resists wear and light abrasion
  • Provides a tight, moisture-resistant seal in many containment situations
  • Conforms to irregular surfaces without lifting
  • Available in a wide variety of colors
  • Recommended applications: visual marking, patching, bundling, reinforcing, tabbing, taping/splicing insulation, capping pipe, securing conduit ends, marking, labeling, temporary repair, hanging polyethylene drapes, protecting against light sandblast overspray

Backing Material:
Tape is commonly made of a backing material and an adhesive material. Backing material is what holds the adhesive and is the portion of tape exposed to the environment when applied to a surface. Also known as carrier material, it is available in a range of materials for varying applications. For light-duty applications like office and packaging, backing materials are often made of paper for easy tearing. For tough, outdoor applications like aerospace or marine, heavy-duty backing materials are used to resist abrasion and wear.
Adhesive Material:
Tape is commonly made of a backing material and an adhesive material. Adhesive material is the sticky portion of the tape that forms a bond when applied to a substrate. A wide range of adhesive materials are used for varying applications. To form an effective bond, rugged and contoured substrates require different adhesive materials than smooth, even surfaces. Choose adhesive material based on surface material, indoor or outdoor use, and surface quality.
Tensile Strength:
Tensile strength refers to how effective the adhesive is at resisting stretching and breaking. Tensile strength is typically expressed in pounds per inch as the maximum amount of tension the adhesive material can withstand before it breaks.
