Product Overview

Achieve maximum life from your diamond drills by using the correct Sharpening Stone. These highly abrasive stones remove worn diamond and bond contact, exposing fresh cutting crystals. CRL Sharpening Stones are intended for use with multi-layer diamond drills, such as our DCD, HBT, PD, and PDT Series Drills. The purpose of the Stone is to remove bond matrix and expose a fresh layer of diamond crystal. Use the Stone when your diamond drill becomes slow in drilling.
When using a CRL Sharpening Stone, make sure the drill diameter is smaller than the sharpening surface. This is for your safety. A smaller stone can catch and spin in the drill, causing potential injury to the operator. The entire diamond section of the drill
should be in contact with the Stone. Do not over-use the Stone. Only light dressing is needed to expose fresh diamond. Do not dress sides of diamond drills.
TO SHARPEN: Submerge Stone in water or suitable coolant solution before use to fully saturate Stone. Position Stone securely under drill mounted in the machine. Block or hold Stone securely to prevent spinning. Set drill speed to slowest setting and lower the drill onto the Stone several times with just enough pressure to ensure 360 degree contact with the Stone. Raise and remove the diamond tube drill from machine. By hand, lightly turn the diamond drill counter-clockwise three or four turns in the groove just created in the Stone.
Now try drilling your glass again. Your drilling performance should be greatly improved.
NOTE: For sharpening diamond wheels, use our finer EMSS Type Stones
Product Warning:
Always wear the proper safety gear including eye protection when using a sharpening stone. Always make sure to use a stone that is wider than the diameter of drill being sharpened. This minimizes the risk of drill or stone breakage during use. Failure to follow any of these precautions can result in operator injury.
