Product Overview
The B&K 586-120HP black steel pipe nipple is a threaded fitting used to connect other pipe sections or fittings within plumbing and industrial systems. Constructed from carbon steel, this ungalvanized nipple features a dark iron oxide finish. It has a nominal pipe size (NPS) of 1-1/4 inches and a length of 12 inches. With a Schedule 40 wall thickness, it is designed for durability and pressure resistance. Both ends are externally threaded with male National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads, conforming to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 standards, which require a sealant for leak-tight connections. This type of nipple is commonly employed in systems conveying natural gas, steam, compressed air, oil, lubricants, and non-potable water, including fire sprinkler systems and HVAC applications. It is not recommended for potable water distribution due to potential corrosion. The nipple can withstand pressures up to 500 PSI at 150°F
