Product Overview
Protect high amperage terminals from accidental shorts Terminal connections to high amperage components such as alternators and starters, if not protected, are exposed to accidental shorts during engine service or repair. Electric winches, windlasses and other high amperage equipment usually share a locker with items that can shift while the boat is in use. Unless they have a specific shroud over the terminals, they are also exposed to the same risk of accidental cross current shorts. Tools and other conductive materials can bridge the positive and negative terminals to create a short and start a fire. Insulating these terminals is a way to prevent this risk. Blue Sea Systems designed rotating single entry CableCaps to insulate stud terminals from accidental contact. Each cap is sized to the cable (18AWG 4/0AWG) and matches wire run direction. Available in Red and Black choose color to match the positive or negative terminal being protected. As an added benefit, covering the terminals will reduce corrosion.
