The hardlube coating on these taps protects them from wear
Also called hardslick, it has an inner layer of titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) and an outer layer of tungsten carbide/carbon (WC/C)
The TiAlN layer withstands high temperatures and protects the taps from wear
The WC/C layer has a low coefficient of friction and helps prevent chips from sticking to the tool in dry-machining applications.
