A split bolt connector, such as the GEXPRO IK-8, is a heavy-duty mechanical fastener designed for joining two or more electrical conductors without soldering. Constructed from high-strength copper alloy, this connector provides high conductivity and corrosion resistance. It accommodates 8 to 16 AWG (American Wire Gauge) solid, compact, compressed, or concentric copper conductors for equal main and tap applications. The split design features precision-tooled threads that allow for maximum torque application to securely clamp wires. This type of connector is suitable for direct burial in earth and concrete and is often used in power distribution, grounding, and splicing applications. It typically carries UL 467 listing for grounding and bonding, UL 486A/B listing for wire connectors, and CSA certification, ensuring compliance with electrical codes. Rated for circuits up to 35 kV and a temperature rating of 90°C
