CRL DAP® '1012' Metal Sash Putty is formulated for face glazing interior or exterior aluminum, primed steel, stainless steel, and galvanized steel sash. It applies and sets quickly and smoothly without priming, and is colored to match metal finishes. Glazing may be painted with oil or latex-based paint after it has skinned over and attained a firm set. Typical dry time before painting is two to three weeks, depending on temperature and humidity.
Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of frost. When re-glazing, remove all old putty and bedding. If any separation has occurred in glazing, mix entire contents of container until uniform. If the compound is too stiff, the addition of a minimum amount of VM and P Naphtha Spirits (not to exceed 1-1/2 fl. oz., 44 ml for each 1 gl., 3.78 l) of compound will reduce the consistency. Do not add any type of oil or pigment to the compound. Preferably store compound in a warm place prior to use. Press glazing onto sash filling height and width of L-shaped recess completely. Smooth glazing with a putty knife to an angle that sheets water. Typical dry time before painting is two to three weeks, depending on temperature and humidity. Putty may be painted after it has skinned over and attained a firm set. For best results, use a high quality oil-based paint.
Product Warning:
DO NOT apply when air or sash temperatures are below 40ºF (4ºC). DO NOT use for channel glazing, inside face glazing of plastic window panes, plastic window panes over 24" (610 mm) in any dimension, any window pane over 48" (1.22 m) in any dimension, or insulated glass units with an organic seal. DAP® '1012' Glazing is not recommended for glazing porcelainized steel insulating panels, for any composite or composition panels or for stained/leaded glass projects. Clean tools immediately after use with mineral spirits. Be sure container lid is closed and tightly sealed. Store in a cool, dry place.
