This Hillman Fasteners 1042421 drywall screw is a hardened carbon steel fastener designed for attaching gypsum board to wood studs and framing. Featuring a #8 diameter and 2-1/2" length, it incorporates a coarse thread for secure grip in wood and a Phillips drive for efficient installation, typically with a #2 Phillips bit. The bugle head design allows the screw to sink below the surface of the drywall without tearing the paper, facilitating a smooth, flush finish for subsequent mudding and painting. A black phosphate coating provides moderate corrosion resistance for interior applications and reduces friction during driving. While primarily intended for drywall to wood, these screws are also suitable for other wood-to-wood applications, particle board, plywood, interior wooden decks, and fastening trim or cabinets to studs.
