Manufacturing 

Hyde is renowned for manufacturing the highest quality of tools. When modern drywall was introduced in 1936, the company was called on to design what became the drywall joint knife that is still in use today. Not only that, for decades before and after that call, Hyde only supplied the tools of choice for drywall pros, professional painters, wallpaper hangers, and other tradesmen. 

How the Company Started 

Founded initially as a cutlery manufacturer by Mr. Isaac P. Hyde in 1875, Hyde Manufacturing Company first used its exceptional blade-making skills to make blades and rugged knives for pros working in the textile, tire, and other industries. Over time, the brand was called on to adapt its high-quality tools to new industries and applications – from masonry and drywall to wallpaper, surface preparation, and painting. It has now become the numero uno choice for painters, drywall pros, and remodelers. 

A Rich History 

The company is still family-owned and located in Southbridge. It has a specific division that continues to manufacture the high-quality knives and blades that the brand was known for in the 19th century. But today, the Hyde brand also stands for innovation, with product lines that include its RVT® airless spray system, QuickReach® telescoping spray poles, and many other patented tools for pros. As for quality, the company’s classic Black & Silver “guaranteed forever” scrapers, multitools, putty knives, and joint knives continue to be the industry standard-bearers.
