The Magnaflux ZP-14A is a water soluble developer supplied as a white, free-flowing powder used in liquid penetrant inspection (LPI) processes. It dissolves in water to form a biodegradable solution, creating a uniform white porous coating on test part surfaces. This coating draws penetrant from discontinuities like cracks and porosity, providing a contrasting background to enhance the visibility of indications. ZP-14A is recommended for use with post-emulsifiable penetrants such as ZL-2C, ZL-27A, and ZL-37. It is composed of organic salts, surface active agents, and corrosion inhibitors, and is chromate and nitrite free. The developer can be applied by immersion dip, spray, or flow-on techniques. It meets specifications including AMS 2644 (Form b), ASTM E1417/E1417M, ASTM E165/E165M-18, ASME BPVC-V, and MIL-STD-2132. The product is available under manufacturer code 01338175 in a 20 lb container.
