Product Overview
DESCRIPTION: This is a high-hiding latex paint combining long lasting weather resistance and excellent color retention. Use Majic Latex Barn & Fence Paint on properly prepared wood, masonry or metal. DO NOT USE ON ROOFS OR FLOORS. SURFACE PREP: New Wood: Seal knots with a pigmented shellac primer. Prime with an exterior wood primer. Allow to dry 24 hours before applying the finish coat. Previously Painted Wood: Remove all loose and peeling paint, chalk, dirt, and mildew. Mildew can be removed by using a solution of bleach and water or a special mildew cleaner. The use of a power washer equipped with a detergent injector may be helpful on large projects. Dull any glossy area with sandpaper. Spot prime bare areas with an exterior wood primer. Masonry: Remove loose mortar, peeling paint and other foreign material with a wire brush. Remove chalk and dirt by washing and rinse thoroughly. You may observe white stains or deposits on the masonry. This is known as efflorescent salts and must be removed with a solution of muriatic acid and water. Once the surface is clean proceed with two coats of Majic Latex Barn Paint. New masonry surfaces should be allowed to weather for at least 60 days and then neutralized with 10% muriatic acid before painting. Metal: Clean off any rust, peeling paint. Prime bare areas with red metal primer or Rust Kill Primer. APPLICATION: Stir paint thoroughly. If thinning is required use water sparingly (maximum 1pint/gallon). The surface should be clean and properly prepared as described above. Do not apply to a hot surface or if temperatures are to fall below 60+ALA-F, or when rain is expected within 24 hours. Time your work so that you can stop painting by at least 4 hours before nightfall. Avoid painting in direct sunlight. Apply paint generously with a good quality brush or roller. Two coats may be required on a textured or porous surface or where there is a radical color change.
