Product Overview
DESCRIPTION: This is a ready mixed, bright aluminum finish formulated with the finest leafing aluminum pigments, long wearing oils and resins. This coating provides excellent resistance to moisture, harsh weather, soot, smoke, steam, and industrial fumes. The durable finish will maintain its bright appearance and high reflectivity for years. This coating derives its brilliance from a surface leafing pigment. Therefore, it should not be used on any surface subject to abrasion, or constant rubbing. SURFACE PREP: All Surfaces to be painted must be clean, dry and free of oil, grease or rust. Rusted metals should be cleaned with wire brush or sandpaper. New metal should be cleaned with rags saturated in mineral spirits to remove grease or oil residue. Remove loose, scaling, or peeling paint by scraping or sanding. Sand glossy finishes or use a liquid deglossing agent to dull the surface. Ferrous Metal: Apply one or two coats of Rust Kill Aluminum Paint. In extremely corrosive environments or on rust-prone surfaces, a primer coat of #8-5798 Rust Kill Red Oxide Primer will give increased protection. Spot priming will be sufficient on previously painted surfaces. Galvanized Metal: New galvanized metal should be allowed to weather for six months or primed with latex primer. Apply finish coat(s) of Rust Kill Aluminum Paint. APPLICATION: Blend the paint by pouring off the top two-thirds of the paint into a separate container. Stir the remainder to a uniform consistency, making sure that all aluminum pigments are evenly dispersed. Add the removed portion back into the can and mix thoroughly. Stir occasionally during application. Apply the paint with a good quality polyester brush, short nap roller, or spray equipment. The paint should be applied liberally finishing off in one direction. Thinning is not normally required. Exterior painting should not be attempted in damp or rainy weather or when temperatures are below 50+ALA-F. To thin, use only # 8-0750 Majic Non-VOC Reducer. The addition of one pint of Majic Reducer to one gallon of Rust Kill Aluminum will give the perfect spray consistency without compromising VOC limits.
