This diffuser ring prevents exhaust gasses from re-entering the blades at low speed. It only helps to prevent cavitation and, in the worst-case situation, complete blow-out of a thru-hub exhaust system by preventing exhaust fumes from creating cavitation in the slipstream (the water flow between the bottom unit and the propeller hub) which may result in total loss of propeller grip. This product also helps in preventing propellers from breaking. It is an added safety feature for the boat to continue functioning for a long time.
