CRL Wood Sash Putty is formulated for application to wood. It goes on smooth and evenly, and its off-white color blends with most unfinished wood surfaces.
Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of frost. For best results, prime wood first with an oil-based primer. When re-glazing, remove all old putty and bedding. If necessary, place glazing in hands and roll into coils to warm and soften. Smooth glazing to an angle that sheets water. Typical dry time before painting is four to six weeks, depending on temperature and humidity. Putty must be painted after it has skinned over and attained a firm set. For best results, use a high quality oil-based paint. Off-white color comes in factory sealed plastic containers that preserve freshness and shelf life. CRL Wood Sash Putty is attractively labeled for over-the-counter retail sales in your choice of five sizes.
Technical Data: Meets the requirements of Federal Specification TT-G-410E; ASTM C 669-75, C669, D2249, D2376, C797.
Product Warning:
Important Note: Do not thin putty. At no time should any solvents or any type of oils be added. In addition, the putty cannot be tinted or colored by adding color pigments.
Mixing Instructions: Mix the ENTIRE contents of the container prior to use. Empty the ENTIRE container onto a piece of glass or a plastic surface and mix the oils into the putty until a uniform mixture is produced. DO NOT mix small amounts at a time. Mixing small amounts of putty will result in handfuls of putty that are either too dry, or contain too much oil. DO NOT mix on cardboard, as the cardboard will absorb useful oils.
Check Spec Data sheet for additional application guidelines and limitations.
