How it All Started

On March 7, 1918, Konosuke Matsushita moved into a larger, two-story home and established Matsushita Electric Housewares Manufacturing Works, which would eventually grow into Panasonic. Three people made up the staff: Matsushita, 23, Mumeno, 22, and her brother Toshio, who was just 15. They created a workshop out of the three rooms on the ground floor and set up two manually driven presses for molding insulation. Gradually sales grew, and the company found itself on a firm footing.
