This Pentair 154540Z underdrain lateral is a replacement component designed for use in Pentair Triton II, Triton C, and Triton C-3 series fiberglass sand filters, specifically models TR140, TR140C, and TR140C-3. Measuring 12 inches in length with a 1-5/8 inch diameter and a 1-1/4 inch Male Pipe Thread (MPT) connection, it is constructed from durable, chemical-resistant plastic. The lateral's primary function is to ensure even water distribution throughout the sand bed, which optimizes filtration efficiency and prevents channeling. It also effectively blocks sand grains from escaping back into the pool. Typically, eight laterals are required per sand filter unit to maintain proper operation.
