The use of soft coating Low-E glass is rapidly increasing due to the improved energy efficiency it provides in the performance of insulated units and government regulations. When using soft coated Low-E glass the coating must be stripped from the glass edge in order for the sealing adhesive to bond to the glass. Perfect Score Technologies offers an economy edge deletion machine to accomplish this stripping operation. The PST Single Axis Low-E Edge Deletion Table top frame and frame base are fabricated from 2" x 2" heavy wall tubular steel. 2" diameter neoprene spherical ball casters are mounted onto the top frame, on 6" centers, and will not scratch the glass. The table top has a 20" x 22" cutout for operator access when edge deleting smaller sized lites. Construction of the edge deletion machine is all MIG welded and is available in a standard stock size of 60" x 80". The PST Single Axis Low-E Edge Deletion Table is shipped knocked down and folded up to reduce freight expense and to allow for ease of transport, movement and storage in the factory. Some minor assembly required. The operator loads a glass lite onto the ball caster table with the Low-E coated side up then positions the lite against the guide rollers on the right side of the edge deletion table. With the glass lite against the guide rollers the operator pushes the lite left so that the glass edge passes through and under the abrasion wheel. The operator rotates the glass lite 90 degrees and repeats steps above to delete the coating from each edge of the glass lite. The removed particles of the Low-E coating are collected in the protective hood that surrounds the fiber removal wheel. This hood is connected to a high efficiency dust collection source. Since the coating particles contain heavy metals classified as carcinogens it is recommended that, for the safety of the operating personnel, these particles be collected and properly disposed of.
