Product Overview
Easy to install and easy to clean raw water strainer Raw water strainers are a great line of defense against debris that can shorten the life of water pumps and clog raw water cooled engine block passages. Perko designed each of these strainers to provide excellent straining abilities while maintaining the full flow of the designated pipe size. Cast bronze bodies, clear polymer bowls and stainless steel baskets make Perko 500 series strainers ready for marine use. Cast tabs on both sides of the body make mounting the strainer straight forward. The clear bowl allows visual inspection of the basket. A hinged cover provides easy access to clean or replace the basket without having to keep track of small parts that can drop into the bilge. Cast hex shapes near the ports make tightening pipe fittings possible without adding strain to mounts. To reduce electrolysis, 316 stainless steel is used for the basket that has a 46% open area provided by .077" holes. Sediment is removed through a drain plug in the strainer bottom that also serves to speed up draining during winterization.
