Mark the vent location: Use a chalk line to mark the center of where the vent will be installed. Measure 1 1/16″ on each side of the centerline to create a total cut width of about 2 1/8″.
Cut the opening: Use a jigsaw or circular saw to cut along the marked lines, creating a slot for the vent.
Test-fit the vent: Place the vent into the slot to make sure it fits properly. It can be installed flush or slightly recessed depending on your preference.
Secure the vent: Use nails or screws in the pre-punched holes along the vent flange to fasten it to the soffit. Make sure it's level and secure.
Seal the top edge: Apply exterior caulk along the top edge where it meets the fascia to help keep out moisture and insects.
Repeat as needed: Continue along the soffit to add more vents for consistent airflow. For smaller areas, you can cut the vent to size.
Tips:
Match the total vent area with your roof’s exhaust ventilation for balanced airflow;
The vent includes insect screening, but sealing edges helps prevent pests;
Don’t install if the soffit space is blocked by insulation—make sure there's a clear air path to the attic.
