The Sug atsune XL-GC09-CR is designed for a working gap of approximately 1 mm to 2.5 mm. A 3/8" gap (approximately 9.5 mm) is significantly larger than this, and the catch will likely not function correctly as the magnet will be unable to make effective contact with the counterplate.
