For Rutland Stove & Gasket Cement (G78, black) cleanup is straightforward but requires care since it hardens quickly:
Fresh/Wet Cement: Wipe immediately with a damp cloth or sponge. Warm water works best before it cures.
Partially Set Cement: Use a plastic scraper or putty knife to lift excess, then wipe with water.
Fully Cured Cement: Mechanical removal is needed — gently scrape or sand. Avoid harsh solvents, as they won’t dissolve cured cement.
Tools Cleanup: Wash applicators and tools in warm, soapy water right after use.
⚠️ Important: Once cured, Rutland cement is designed to withstand high heat and becomes permanent. Cleanup is only easy before it sets.
