Trimming 5 inches off the bottom rail is not recommended, as removing that much material will cut through the bottom structural rail and compromise the frame's joint integrity. It is recommended to trim no more than 1 to 1.5 inches total (equally divided between top and bottom) or order a custom-sized door.
