The 10" damper/adapter included with the Broan‑NuTone 24" Convertible Range Hood is a flat transition piece, not a long duct section. Its depth is only about 1"–1.5", designed to connect the hood’s 3¼" × 10" rectangular outlet to a 10" round duct. It will not span your 7¾"–8" wall thickness by itself.
