To clean and maintain the Simpson 80299 Universal 15-Inch Surface Cleaner, focus on clearing out clogged spray nozzles and maintaining the rotating arm assembly.
1. Preparing the Unit
• Shut down your pressure washer completely and turn off the water supply.
• Squeeze the trigger gun to relieve any remaining water pressure.
• Disconnect the surface cleaner from the pressure washer's high-pressure wand or hose.
2. Unclogging the Rotating Nozzles
• Remove the nozzles: Use a crescent wrench to unthread and remove the dual rotating spray nozzles from the spray bar.
• Clear debris: Insert a fine steel wire or a specialized nozzle-cleaning pick (from a pick set) into the front of each nozzle. Twist the pick back and forth to dislodge hard water deposits, sand, or dirt.
• Tap and flush: Tap the nozzle gently against a hard surface to shake out loose particles, then flush the nozzles and spray bar out with clean water.
• Reinstall: Thread the clean nozzles back onto the spray bar by hand first, then tighten them securely with your wrench
3. Lubricating and Checking the Swivel/Rotating Head
• Inspect the central spinning pivot or swivel mechanism on top of the deck.
• If the spray bar is stiff or fails to spin freely under water pressure, loosen the top housing components using a proper-sized Allen wrench (such as a No. 5 Allen wrench).
• Apply a small amount of marine-grade grease or a suitable water-resistant lubricant to the internal spinning mechanism and O-rings to ensure smooth rotation.
• Reassemble the washers and housing parts carefully, tightening them back into place
