I have a slow closing Mayfair seat like the one listed here. It seems to be closing faster and faster. I've looked for some kind of adjustment to slow it down but don't see anything like that. Is there someway that I can slow it down from closing so fast. It's only about a year old.

The Mayfair by Bemis 26CHSL-000 toilet seat uses a slow-close mechanism designed to prevent the seat from slamming down. If your seat is closing faster than before, it may be due to wear and tear on the slow-close hinge mechanism. Unfortunately, these hinges typically do not have an adjustable feature to modify the speed at which the seat closes. Here are a few steps you can take to potentially improve the situation: Clean the Hinges: Sometimes, debris or dirt can affect the slow-close mechanism. Remove the seat and clean the hinges thoroughly with a mild soap and water solution, then dry them completely. Lubricate the Hinges: Apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to the hinge mechanism. Avoid using oil-based lubricants, as they can attract dust and debris. Check for Damage: Inspect the hinges and the slow-close mechanism for any visible signs of damage or wear. If any components are damaged, you may need to replace the hinge mechanism. Contact the Manufacturer: If the seat is only about a year old, it may still be under warranty. Contact Bemis customer support to see if they offer any solutions or can provide a replacement if the slow-close mechanism is defective. If none of these steps work, you might need to consider replacing the seat or the hinge mechanism if it is available as a separate part.
