Watermelons thrive in warm weather, making late spring to early summer the ideal time for planting. Once the soil temperature reaches 70°F (21°C), you can directly sow watermelon seeds outdoors. If you’re in a cooler climate, consider starting with young plants for an earlier harvest. Keep in mind that watermelons need about 100 days of warm weather to produce an edible melon, so plan accordingly!
