Exit plates are used to direct any control line (internal halyards, pole lifts, etc.) through a spar wall when there is no need to change direction. An Exit Plate is inserted into the slot to prevent the line flowing through it from making contact with the spar wall. It lessens chafe on the line and prevents any abrasion of the spar wall.
