Product Overview
THERMOSTAT 130 CHRYS/FORCE - 18-3556 is a valve in an outboard's cooling system that responds to temperature by opening or closing. The operational temperature rises when it is closed because the flow of cooling water through the outboard is interrupted. When the temperature rises, it opens, letting coolant flow through the outboard and bringing the operating temperature down. It alternately opens and closes to keep the motor at the proper operating temperature. It maintains the engine cool and makes sure that fuel combustion maximized to produce the most power with the least amount of fuel used. Key Features: It is specifically created for use with Mercury maritime applications. Interchangeable with the following parts: GLM 13200, Mallory 9-43025, Mercury Marine 895338, Chrysler/Force/US Marine F97068, F97068-1, and F97068-2. Before the liquid gets too hot and overheats the outboard engine, it can escape to avoid damage. It prevents heat transmission from the cylinder walls and head while regulating water temperature to enable engine cooling.
