The Starting Motor Brush Set is for Delco Remy Starter. It is for use on Mercruiser Stern Drives and OMC Stern Drives. The inevitable cause of wear out of brushes is due to mechanical friction, together with electrical erosion. Wear out brushes don't make as good contact. Then, resistance goes up between the brushes and commutator for the starter to engage and crank the engine. It will cause requirements for the battery to go up and work harder for electrical flow.
