The Simmons ICSS-5 insert coupling is designed for connecting polyethylene (PE) plastic pipe sections. It is constructed from stainless steel and accommodates 1-1/4 inch nominal pipe size. Insert couplings create a secure, leak-proof connection by being inserted into the ends of two pipe sections. They are typically used with stainless steel clamps or hose clamps (not included) to secure the connection and prevent pull-off, especially in cold water pressure applications. The design of the insert fitting is intended to slightly expand the PE pipe upon insertion, and the pipe's 'memory' combined with clamping action forms a positive seal with strong pull-off resistance.
