Upgrade the boat end of your existing standard shore power cable, and plug into a new SmartPlug inlet. It's time for a change. The SmartPlug 30 Amp Inlet and Connector includes the 30 Amp Inlet and the 30 Amp Connector, everything you need to protect your boat from shore power overheating. Installation of both components is easy. Simply replace the connector on the boat side end of your existing shore power cordset, as well as the shore power inlet on your boat with the superior SmartPlug equivalent using the included instructions. The Inlet cap and flange are made of fire- and weather-resistant thermoplastic and also have multiple locking points to ensure the plug is safe and secure. What's in the Kit Shore power delivery systems have remained virtually unchanged since they were introduced in 1938. Contrary to popular belief, the number-one cause of shore power failure and fires is not electrical shorting, but rather overheating caused by poor electrical conductivity.
