This electrical ground rod, South Atlantic model ZZ586, is constructed from high carbon open hearth steel and measures 5/8 inch (15.875 mm) in diameter and 6 feet (1.83 meters) in length. It features a hot-dip galvanized finish, meeting ASTM-A-153 for zinc coating, which provides corrosion resistance and extends its service life by protecting against moisture and chemicals. Designed for grounding systems, this rod provides a safe path for electrical currents to dissipate into the earth, protecting structures and equipment from damage due to lightning strikes and electrical surges. It meets ANSI/UL 467 standards and has a tensile strength of 80,000-100,000 PSI.
