The South Atlantic ZZ588 ground rod is an electrical grounding component designed to safely dissipate excess electrical current into the earth, providing protection against lightning strikes and power surges. Constructed from high carbon open hearth steel, it features a hot-dip galvanized finish for superior corrosion resistance. This 5/8 inch diameter by 8 feet length rod is UL 467 listed and meets ANSI/NEMA GR-1 and ANSI C135.30 requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards for electrical grounding systems. The galvanization process provides a durable, rust-proof zinc barrier with a minimum thickness of 3.9 mils (99.06 microns) per ASTM A-123. It helps stabilize voltages and reduce risks to electrical equipment and personnel.
