Product Overview
This black steel pipe is constructed from carbon steel and features a protective varnish coating to inhibit oxidation. Designed for conveying natural gas, propane, steam, air, and other fluids, it is suitable for applications such as fire sprinkler systems and general plumbing, but not for potable water due to corrosion risk. The pipe measures 1/2 inch Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) by 60 inches in length and has male threaded ends that comply with ANSI B1.20.1 standards for National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads, requiring a sealant for leak-free connections. It conforms to ANSI/ASTM A53 specifications for steel pipe and ANSI/ASTM A733 for pipe nipples. Manufactured by Southland, model 583-600HC, this product is NAFTA approved. This product can expose to chemicals including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
