This Detectable Underground Warning Tape, manufactured by Swanson Tool Co. as model DETB21005, is designed for accurately locating and preventing damage to underground potable water utility installations. The tape features an aluminum foil core laminated between high-grade low-density polyethylene and polyester layers, making it detectable by non-ferrous locators and metal detectors. It measures 2 inches wide by 1000 feet long with an overall thickness of 5 mil. The blue background, compliant with APWA color codes for water lines, features a permanently imprinted black message stating "Caution Buried Water Line Below" to ensure visibility and prevent degradation from soil acids and alkalis.
