The MiTek WSWH-EXT Series Washer Head Exterior Structural Wood Screw, MPN WSWH5-EXTR12, is engineered from Grade 5 steel with a proprietary Exterior Coat finish for enhanced durability. This 1/4 inch diameter, 5 inch long screw features a large, flat washer head to maximize bearing area and a T30 Torx drive to prevent cam-out during installation. Its self-drilling Type 17 point eliminates the need for predrilling, reducing splitting and installation torque. Nibs under the head ensure a flush seat to the wood surface, and length identification stamps are present on the head for easy inspection. Designed for wood-to-wood connections in exterior applications like attaching deck ledgers and joining multi-ply dimensional lumber beams, it serves as a high-strength alternative to traditional lag screws and through-bolts. The screw is code compliant with ICC-ES ESR-2761, FL17231, and LABC_ESR-2761 standards.
