Product Overview
This Brass hinge from the Preston Series is intended for mounting shower doors in residential bath and commercial hotel applications. It features a 180 Degree mounting type for glass-to-glass installation and requires a cutout. This hinge is presented in Brushed Nickel finish. The hinge profile is Beveled and it is designed for use with Monolithic Tempered Glass. It is not adjustable. It supports glass thicknesses ranging from 3/8" to 1/2". For 3/8" glass, the approximate weight supported per hinge is 5 lb, and for 1/2" glass, it is approximately 6.4 lb. Using two hinges, the maximum door weight is 80 lbs and the maximum door width is 28". Using three hinges, the maximum door weight is 120 lbs and the maximum door width is 32". The overall height is 3-1/2", the hinge width on the sidelite side is 2-3/16", and the hinge width on the door side is 2-3/16". The hinge is factory set for Self-Centering Within 15 Degree of Closed Position, with a standard closing position. The hinge pivot pin has a dual degree setting, factory set at 90 degrees, but can be field adjusted to allow an additional 5 degrees of closing for positive positioning against a jamb or seal. It includes the Hinge, Glazing Gaskets, Hex Head Screws, Crosshead Head Cover Plate Screws, and a Fabrication Template. The template is for standard 3/16" glass-to-glass clearance. Only tempered safety glass should be used. Installation requires tightening clamping screws by hand only, power tools must not be used. After operating the door, screws should be re-tightened after about 10 minutes to account for gasket compression, and tightened one final time, recommended torque is 45 lb-in per screw. If slippage occurs, hard setting blocks can be used between the hinge body and glass cutout. Maintenance requires wiping dry daily and cleaning with a soft damp cloth and mild liquid cleaner. If squeaking occurs, add a few drops of multi-purpose oil at the nylon washer/pivot, do not use spray lubricants.
