Gate Valves

A gate valve contains a disc which moves at 90 degrees to the direction of flow of fluid to stop/start the flow of the fluid in the pipeline system. When the gate valve is completely open, it allows the unrestricted forward flow of fluid without any pressure drop whereas when the gate valve is completely closed, then it shuts down the flow of the fluid. The seal of the disc should be in complete contact with the seat to shut down the flow of the fluid. Usually, the gate valves are used in entirely open or wholly closed positions. Partially open gate valves lead to the damage of the disc due to the pressure of the fluid and subsequent leakages in the pipeline system.
