DESCRIPTION: Rust Kill Oil Base Gloss Rust Preventative is a high quality alkyd resin enamel containing a superior, long lasting rust inhibiting pigment. Rust Kill applies smoothly and dries quickly to a long-lasting weatherproof finish. This enamel dries to a gloss finish that is non-chalking and fade resistant to give maximum beauty and protection on most interior and exterior surfaces. SURFACE PREP: All Surfaces, new or previously painted, must be clean, dry and free of oil, dirt, grease, mildew and rust. Rusted metal should be cleaned with wire brush or sandpaper. Remove loose, scaling paint by wire brushing, scraping or sanding. Glossy surfaces and all protected areas not exposed to normal weathering should be dulled by sanding. Remove oil residues from new metal surfaces by cleaning with rags saturated in mineral spirits. Surfaces with extensive rust or heavy oxidation should be cleaned to remove loose scale, dust and debris. Ferrous Metal: Prime with # 8-5798 Rust Kill Red Oxide Primer or # 8-5812 Rust Kill Gray Primer. For extra protection, spot prime welded joints and intersections with the primer, then follow with one full primer coat over the entire surface. Bare Metal: Apply # 8-5798 Rust Kill Red Oxide Primer. Galvanized Metal: On galvanized metal that is new or in sound condition, apply one coat of latex galvanized metal primer. Previously Painted Surfaces: Previously painted surfaces in good condition do not require priming. If the surface is in poor condition, prime bare spots as indicated above. APPLICATION: The surface must be thoroughly dry. Do not apply when temperature is likely to drop below 50+ALA-F during the drying period, nor on damp or rainy days. Avoid painting on hot surfaces. Stir the paint thoroughly prior to application. To assure penetration into corners and crevices, brush or spray application is preferred. However, application with a short nap roller is satisfactory on large flat surfaces. If brushing, a natural bristle brush will give best results. To thin, use only # 8-0750 Majic Non-VOC Reducer. The addition of one pint of Majic Reducer to one gallon of Rust Kill will give the perfect spray consistency without compromising VOC limits.
