Which Plumbing Vent Do You Need?

Only the first two rows vent a drain. Everything else gets searched under the same name, so buy for the problem in front of you.

If you're dealing with	Buy	Check before you order
An island sink, basement bath or remodel with no route to the roof	An individual or branch AAV: Studor Redi-Vent, Sioux Chief Turbovent or Jones Stephens Plumb Aire with a PVC adapter, or Danco's with ABS	Match the adapter to your pipe, PVC or ABS, 1-1/2 or 2 in. Look for ASSE 1051 on the listing.
A drainage stack that needs its own vent	A stack-type AAV such as the Studor Maxi-Vent	Look for ASSE 1050. An individual-type valve isn't permitted to vent a stack.
Air locking up a boiler loop, solar loop or pressurized water line	An automatic plumbing air vent from Caleffi, Bell & Gossett, Honeywell or Legend	These release air from pressurized water. They won't vent a drain. Match the 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2 in. NPT thread.
Dirty water backing into the dishwasher	An air gap body and cap from Danco or LPS Sourcing	Replacing only the cap? Match the brand and outside diameter of the old one.
A floor drain that dries out and starts to smell	A trap seal primer from Trap Primers, such as the Mifab M2-500	1/2 in. NPT supply. One primer serves up to three floor drain traps.
An exposed mobile home or RV roof vent	A plumbing vent cover from Trap Vents, such as Danco's plastic cap	Sized for pipe up to 1-1/2 in. It won't fit a 3 in. house stack.
